Is iPhone the new Admobile?

The latest Mobile Advertising Report by Limbo and ad agency GfK, found that iPhone users are more likely to remember mobile advertising as much as four times more than non iPhone users for location based services (LBS). The report surveyed 1,000 users in the US and another 1,000 in the UK.

Why? Maybe because iPhone offers so much in online services, applications and games that they use their phones more than regular cell phones. If consumers use more the phone, they will naturally be more exposed to whatever messages there are via their phone.

Do you remember?
• iPhone users are 4x as likely to recall LBS (location-based service) ads as non-iPhone users.
• 33 % of mobile customers remember mobile ads during Q4/08. iPhone users: 41%
• 1 in every 3 user that recall a mobile ad responded in some way. iPhone user: 1 in 2
• Men and women will remember ads at the same rate. However, women are 85% more likely to respond to an ad than men are. (Source: Limbo.com/2009)

There is an App for that!
iPhone has over 15,000 apps available (David Pogue, 2009). That is an incredible number! As the AT&Tamp;; TV commercial says,” there is an app for that”. From leveling a shelf, to find a restaurant, to on line baking, “there is an app for that”. Apple says that the average iphone owner may install 10-30 different programs and since last July they have downloaded 500 million copies! Talk about advertising opportunities!

To Twiter or not Twiter

The new frenzy of online communication, Twiter is being used by almost everyone, from your typical american, to congressman, and Presidente Obama. Now, companies use Twiter to advertise. Dell is selling computers via Twiter as well as provide customer and technical support. IBM uses Twiter for internal communication, while Intel uses Twiter to look for good hiring material (Gazeta Mercantil/Caderno C – Pág. 8).

Twiter is a site used for communication to answer simple questions, such as “what are you doing now?”. There is a 140 character limit, so questions are short and simple. Since it is instant communication, it allows companies to jump at the opportunity to target consumers at the moment they express desire for purchasing something, making taking action easier.

Comediant John Stewart makes fun of Twiter in his show:

The question here is: In a world of so many options to communicate with one another, is necessary to add a Twiter in your life?
